Sanyo Semiconductor Company Standardizes On Novas Debug Software With Multi-Year AgreementSAN JOSE, Calif., November 27, 2002 — Novas Software, Inc., the leader in debug systems for complex chip designs, today announced that the Sanyo Semiconductor Company (SCC) has adopted the Novas Debussy Knowledge-Based Debug System as its standard integrated circuit (IC) debug system. SCC is the one of the Sanyo group companies that plays a key role in developing competitive system LSIs with microcomputers and system LSIs for digital consumer devices.
SCC signed a multi-year purchase agreement with Novas for broad deployment of Debussy within the LSI System Division. Novas’ Debussy will be used to accelerate development of system LSIs with more functionality and higher quality and reliability for digital cameras and digital TVs.
Kenichi Murawaki, senior manager and Kazuya Yamamura, assistant manager in the Design Automation Department of the LSI Division at Sanyo Semiconductor Company stated, “We initially applied Debussy exclusively to debugging of the most complex designs for our digital consumer LSIs. In these debugging processes, Debussy has shown a high return on investment, saving up to 50 percent in debug time. Based on these results, we’ve selected Debussy as the standard debug system in order to introduce the Debussy advantage to other designs.”
“It is an honor to have SCC, a leader in the SoC market, standardize on the Novas debug platform,” said Johnson Teng, vice president of Asia for Novas. “We are confident that the LSI design teams will continue to gain back valuable development time with the help of Debussy’ robust debug functions, and also benefit from the ongoing support of our Japanese distributor Novaflow.”
About Novas’ Debussy
The Debussy debug system speeds the resolution of design problems for complex ICs by automating the tracing, visualization, and analysis of causes and effects in Verilog, VHDL and mixed-language descriptions. Debussy’s architecture is based on a robust database of design knowledge that addresses design complexity and reuse issues by helping engineers quickly and thoroughly understand complicated or unfamiliar code. Users consistently report that Debussy cuts their debug time in half. Debussy is tightly integrated into standard chip design and verification flows through industry alliances with more than 25 leading providers of commercial logic simulators, formal verification software and hardware emulators.
About Novas
Novas is the pioneer of knowledge-based debug systems that reduce the functional verification costs for complex IC designs. Building upon the strength of its market-leading Debussy Knowledge-Based Debug System, Novas’ second generation VerdiTM Behavior-Based Debug System further improves the efficiency of designers in the system-on-chip era with advanced design exploration and debug capabilities. These allow design teams to better understand and analyze complex or unfamiliar design behavior, and cuts by half or more the time it takes to locate, isolate and understand the root causes of design problems. There are more than 7,000 Novas systems in use today at customer sites worldwide. Novas is headquartered in San Jose, Calif. with offices in Europe, Japan and Asia-Pacific.
